Woking Shopping’s Market Walk, an indoor state-of-the-art covered market, has been visited by more than 250,000 people since it opened on October 1.  A purpose built development operated by Quarterbridge on behalf of Woking Borough Council, Market Walk is home to 22 self-contained kiosks and demountable units varying in sizes from 80sq ft to 190 sq ft.

Open seven days a week, Market Walk is conveniently located in the heart of Woking town centre between Wolsey Place and The Peacocks shopping centres, providing a home for independent retailers ranging from fresh produce to flowers and catering to crafts.

Commenting on the addition of Market Walk to Woking, Ray Morgan, Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council, said:
“Since opening, Market Walk has generated a great deal of excitement for the area, drawing extensive numbers of visitors from outside Woking into the town due to its quality and variety.  Market Walk is a great addition to our already strong retail and catering offer, and adds a new dimension to the shopping experience here at Woking.”

Hayden Ferriby, Commercial Director at Quarterbridge, added:
“We are delighted to have opened Market Walk at Woking Shopping, which is the perfect location to provide visitors with something different seven days a week.  Market Walk provides operators with bespoke facilities in a specially-designed area that is completely undercover.  The quality of Market Walk is reflected by the quality of the operators, all of whom bring something different to Woking Shopping.”
“Since the launch in October, a new delicatessen has opened in one of the two remaining kiosks and local specialist butchers, Bevan’s, is due to open in early January.  These last two offers should continue to develop the growth of fresh produce.”

The news of Market Walk’s success follows a very strong quarter for Woking Shopping with footfall up 9.9%, year on year.  In September, Woking Shopping hosted the Woking Festival of Food and Drink for the second-year running.  The three-day festival welcomed tens of thousands of visitors to Woking Town Centre who enjoyed an assortment of over 60 high quality food and drink stalls, live culinary demonstrations and music throughout the scheme.
