Teenage Market returns

Bolton’s successful Teenage Market will be back in town tomorrow (September 23).

The market gives young people, aged 13 to 25, an opportunity to showcase their business ideas as well as their musical and dramatic talents.

The Teenage Market is a nationwide initiative set up by teenage brothers Joe and Tom Barratt from Stockport as a way to support local young people and transform town centres.

Last year, Bolton Council organised two successful markets with the brothers, and this is the third one to take place this year.

Around 30 independent entrepreneurs will be selling items ranging from candles and jewellery to arts and crafts on Victoria Square, from 10am to 4pm.

Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Bolton Youth Council and Castle Hill Youth Centre will also be trading at the event.

A stage will showcase live music from young bands and singers, with Bolton FM compering.

Visitors can also have a go at a range of sports including football, boxing, martial arts and basketball.

Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris, said: “The Teenage Market has been so successful in Bolton. Some of the young traders also came to our Food and Drink Festival and did very well there. “I am delighted that we are again giving young people a free platform to showcase their business talents and creative skills.”

Co-creator of The Teenage Market, Joe Barratt, added: “We are delighted that Bolton Council is holding these markets and supporting young people.”
