Over thirty percent of the nation’s food is produced or processed in South Holland, but the area is not well known for its culinary delights; so the Spalding Chamber of Commerce is getting together with local producers, the District Council and caterers to change this. The Spalding and South Holland Festival of Food and Drink takes place over the August Bank holiday, which is the 29th and 30th August. The Festival Team have amassed over 40 food stalls and there will be a fun fair for the kids and lots of opportunities for them to learn about and have fun with food.
We are also delighted to confirm that the talented Lincolnshire based celebrity chef Rachel Green will be joining us on both days. Rachel has often been seen on our screens contributing to many television shows including most recently ‘The Lincolnshire Kitchen Xmas Specials’, CBBC ‘Disaster Chefs’, ‘Jimmy & The Giant Supermarket’ as well as ‘The One Show’ and ‘Market Kitchen’ and ‘Kill it, Cook It, Eat It’. She also loves radio; contributing to BBC Shows around the regions. She will be joined by a number of talented chefs from the Spalding area and other parts of Lincolnshire, who will demonstrate their favourite dishes.
Leading up to the festival, Spalding restaurants, pubs and hotels will be holding events and providing locally sourced menus. The Festival will also be an ideal time for people to sample the delights of real ale, locally produced ciders and quality non-alcoholic beverages.

With a large number of visitors expected over the weekend, but particularly on the Saturday, it would be an ideal opportunity for market stall holders to come and see what Spalding has to offer and hopefully decide to make a visit to the Saturday and Tuesday market a regular thing.
