MARKET traders from across the East are invited to sell their wares at some special Open Market days, which will be staged in Great Yarmouth’s historic Market Place every Friday during October, from 9am to 3pm.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is welcoming traders to set up on Fridays throughout the month for a ‘bargain’ fixed price of just £10 for 30ft/9m space. Cllr Graham Plant, the council leader, said: “Great Yarmouth has a proud heritage of markets, dating back to the King John Charter, and we are working to further grow and develop our markets into the 21st century.

“Traders from across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and elsewhere are welcome to set up on the Market Place and benefit from these ‘bargain’ fees every Friday throughout October.

“The Open Market days are a great opportunity for anyone to ‘have a go’ at trading at Great Yarmouth, to try new products or even try their hand at being a market trader. All kinds of stalls are welcome, including local produce, arts and crafts, and home baking. Please get in touch.”

Traders are asked to book in advance in order to benefit from advanced publicity. For more details and to book, contact Mandy Atkinson, the senior market officer, on 01493 846523 or email market@great-yarmouth.gov.uk

Please bring your own tables and gazebo. Site arrival is between 7.30am and 8.30am. Card payment only.

All traders will require insurance. Those who do not have their own policy have the option of joining a joint policy offering cover for just £3 a day. Traders will be required to show a personal basic food hygiene certificate to sell certain goods.
