One of Durham’s finest florists is launching ‘Flower Arranging Classes’ so she can share her wealth of experience with anyone interested in creating unique displays for their own home.

Kirsty Stephenson Young of Kirsty’s Flowers and Hampers in Durham Market Hall is organising monthly classes to share a range of skills and tips for creating floral displays.  The first Flower Arranging Class will take place on Tuesday 24th March in Café Cenno on the Mezzanine level of Durham Market Hall.  Each class will run from 5.30 to 8pm.  Classes will cost £15 per person, and the fee is inclusive of flowers and sundries, including containers and oasis.

Kirsty commented:
“I enjoy creating an impact with an arrangement of flowers, and over the years I’ve picked up many tips and skills which I’d love to share.  I’m looking forward to helping people learn how they can create their own show-stopping displays.  The classes will be a fun and relaxed way to learn new skills, skills that you will always be able to put to good use to create beautiful displays for yourself or for others.”

Places are limited and can be reserved in advance either by emailing kirstys24@hotmail.co.uk or by calling Kirsty on 07592 833398.  All places must be paid for in advance also, payment can be made by cheque payable to Kirstys Hampers, sent to Kirsty’s Hampers, c/o unit 65, Market Hall, Market Place, Durham DH1 3NJ.

Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Markets, added:
“We’ve noticed in recent years that hobbies are increasingly popular, with people turning to our market traders for the supplies as well as hints and tips.  Following on from Kirsty’s hugely successful wreath making classes at Christmas, this is a great opportunity to pick up tips from a highly-trained florist on how to create unique flower arrangements which will look amazing in your home.”
