Traders at Durham’s Market Hall have swapped their stalls for the studio, replacing the backdrop of the Victorian Hall for a ‘green screen’ to create an animated introduction to all the Market has to offer.

All 55 traders located in Durham Market Hall stepped in front of the camera presenting their products to create an 11 minute animation.

Colin Wilkes, Managing Director of Durham Markets, commented:
“The animation is great fun, and customers are enjoying seeing the different market characters.  It’s not just about promoting the wide range of products and services available in the Market Hall, it also welcomes visitors in and introduces them to the individual traders.  The person they see on the animation is the person they will meet in the stall.

“Durham Market Hall is full of characters and we hope that comes across.  They’re all passionate about the products and services they offer, and we want the film to be an invitation to more people to come in and discover all there is here in Durham Market Hall.”

The animation is shown on a large screen in the main entrance to the Market Hall, as well as two screens in Café Cenno and a further screen in the Market Hall itself.

Colin added:
“We now plan to install two further smaller screens.  As well as running our new animation, we will use these to direct visitors to all the facilities available in the Market Hall, such as the lift, accessible toilet and baby change, and access to the Mezzanine level.”

The film is also available to view online at Durham Markets YouTube channel
