Books are Big Business ‘Read all about it!’

One of the fastest and most consistent selling lines on markets are puzzle magazines and paperback books. Bargain Books is a nationwide discount distributor of the U.K’s best-selling puzzle magazines and paperback books based in the picturesque market town of Dolgellau in beautiful Mid Wales. Bargain Books is a family run business operated by twin brothers Andrew and Steven Clark and Andrew’s wife, Rachel. Their modern distribution centre and cash & carry warehouse has recently been extended to 10,000 sq ft in order to cope with the ever-increasing demand for their very popular products. A large onsite showroom is designed to give new customers plenty of ideas regarding the best ways to display their goods in order to maximise sales. Andrew or Steven are always available to offer any advice or answer any questions.

The British public love their traditional puzzle magazines and Bargain Books’ top sellers include Wordsearch, Crosswords, Crisscross, Codewords, Arrow-Words and Sudoku.

Bargain-Books-3-123x300There is a huge demand for good quality puzzle magazines at discount prices in the U.K,” explained Andrew Clark, senior partner at Bargain Books. “The trick is to stock the magazines that the buying public really want. We do not deal in old, clearance, damaged or shop returned magazines. All our magazine stock is very recent and we have an unbeatable selection with new titles arriving weekly. Our puzzle magazines have quickly become one of the best-selling £1 lines in the market place. We can supply a display stand, which our customers call ‘The Cash Machine’ because of how much income it generates every week of the year.”

Customers are very welcome to come and pick their own stock. For mail order customers there are always five different packs of puzzle magazines available; each containing a mix of 180 (20 each of nine different titles) with cover prices ranging from £1.95 to £3.25. Each pack costs just £90 (50p per magazine) giving an excellent profit margin for enterprising traders. Packs can also be made up to customer requirements (all word searches, all crosswords etc). Point of sale material such as boxes, display stands and signs, specially made to size, can be supplied to efficiently display the puzzle magazines to their best advantage. Bargain Books sell only the best-selling paperback books available and they always have well over 1,000 different titles in stock. Their paperback book range includes romance, sagas, thrillers, historical, true crime and military as well as contemporary urban fantasy, erotica and Mills & Boon novels. All of their paperback book stock is in new condition and never includes supermarket returns, which are often shop soiled, stickered and virtually unsaleable. A current list of all paperback titles is available by post or email sales@puzzlemags.co.uk.

Even with the arrival of digital books into the market place, sales of popular paperback books remain strong, especially in the discount sector. The cash & carry warehouse is open to trade visitors from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday and also at weekends, but by appointment only. The warehouse is easy to find, being situated at the far end of the town’s main public car park. Bargain Books pride themselves on their customer service; you will be well looked after whether you run one Sunday market stall or 25 discount shops. If you cannot spare the time to visit their modern cash & carry warehouse, you can take advantage of their excellent mail order service.

Bargain-Books-5-400x600Much of Bargain Books’ business is conducted via an excellent, free next day delivery service. Their courier service gives customers a one-hour window informing them of when their deliveries will arrive, the proposed time being either emailed or sent by text on the morning of the delivery. Orders for puzzle magazines over £90 and for paperback books over £125, received by 12 noon, are delivered the next day at no extra charge to most areas of the U.K. Carriage charges to areas outside of the U.K mainland are very competitive, for example the cost of a 30kg parcel to Spain is only £16. Debit and credit cards are accepted at no extra cost, and as there is no VAT on paperback books or puzzle magazines, start-up costs are low. Help and advice is only a phone call or an email way. A good selection of children’s books is also available including colouring, sticker and activity titles and the latest 2015 AA Road Atlases.
